I'd like to turn this around. I love The Office with Steve Carell (sorry, Brits, never seen your original), but all the Japanese people I've shown the show to don't get it. They have no idea why we consider it funny - they just don't grasp it.

Why? It comes down to culture and to how our nurturing conditions us to respond in certain ways to certain thing.

Bottom Line: Japan is no more bizarre than the U.S. It's all a matter of point-of-view.
