I'm thinking the half a hen is just thrown in there for confusion, to make people overthink the question... I could be (and probably am

Nope, Jensa, I'm pretty sure you're right. The answer is none, since even though there are three hens, it still takes them a day and a half and they only have one day...hence: No eggs.
