Yesterday, I changed one of my rear brake lights. When inserting the light back into the proper hole the bulb fell out and into the light well. I didn't want to remove the tail light cover to retrieve it, because it's a hassle. Here was my situation. I was left with a 3/4" diameter hole and the bulb was about 4 to 5 inches below that.

I did retrieve the bulb without removing the tail light cover. Can you guess how I did it?

Or maybe you got hold of some "dark", put that on a string and pulled the "light" up when it was attracted to the dark on the principle that opposites attract.

You put a drop of superglue on one part of velcro and glued it to the bulb. With the other velcro part on a coat hanger it was a simple matter of touching the two together.
