New Owner Introduction (choice, hell, philosophy, religion)

Hello,

My name is markablue and together with Yac we will be representing the new owner here, which is Advameg Inc. - an Internet company located in Illinois. We are the company employees and have full authority to represent it here.

The company is currently running two other forums: City-Data and Musicbanter. The main principle for both these places is creating a friendly atmosphere for civil debates. Mind you, City-Data also has a religion forum and it is being run not that much differently than RF.

I apologize for the late introduction. Seeing such a well developed community here, we are taking the time to make ourselves familiar with your customs. We have no intention of altering the forums you have here, we wish to expand them even more in the same spirit of fairness and mutual understanding.

We don't expect to make any significant changes in the near future, except for the software upgrades and if we do need to change something, rest assured that we will be cooperating with the current staff. One of such changes is already taking place, which is terminating the donation system. On behalf of the previous owners, we would like to thank all the supporters. You will retain your status but no new supporters will be added.

Let me also congratulate the staff here and all of you for creating and maintaining such a wonderful place. Religion issues, along with politics, are notorious for producing chaos and degenerating into personal attacks. It takes wonderful people to resist this. It is an honor to be part of your community now.

Please, allow us some time to adjust so that we don't impose ourselves too much. All the current issues will continue to be resolved by the staff here.

Question time, yay! If I may ask, why is the donation system being terminated? Is Adminstrator also another Admin or a sort of sock-puppet account for Admining? What colour socks are you wearing and has Sunstone informed you of the clothing policy for the chat?

Welcome yourself. Unfortunately, this will not be so easy. I still work full time on another forum, even though RF is my priority now. I will be more involved in the technical issues for now as there will be a lot of work with the upgrades I've mentioned. While I'm not the one responsible for implementing them (I forgot to add that we have another colleague, his name is Piotr and he's our web guru but he won't be posting), I'm going to have my hands full with testing them and reporting any possible bugs. I'll do my best, though, I promise.

It's the company owner's choice. He is Administrator but he also rarely posts. His responsibility is the "big decisions": promotion strategy, plugin implementation and such. I am the one responsible for mingling with the crew here and being receptive to all your needs and wishes.

I prefer barefoot but have a special dispensation for the chat room.

I'm sure it will be. We bought it because that's what our company does: we buy or create websites and forums, maintain and expand them.

Why would someone want to own such a site? It seems like it would be a lot of work to maintain. For what? Is there money to be made, here? In what way?

It will mean more members, I hope. We have the utmost respect of what you have already achieved so we're not planning on fixing what is not broken, so to speak. The general principles of friendliness, open-mindedness and unbiased approach will certainly be upheld.

Thank you. I would certainly hope so as I hate to come across as grand anything and I ain't no techie. For the moment, I'm rather busy with getting to know the stuff and answering all the important questions about the future of the forums as well as familiarizing myself with the rules and procedures. I will be here to guide us through the upgrades, answering any questions you might have. As soon as time allows, I'll be out there with you, I hope.
