Thought some might find this interesting.
For a while now, I've pretty much given up cooking. I've been living on pizza, fast food, and junk food from the snack machine at work. My co-workers and I eat McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, all that stuff. But I've been trying to cut expenses, so I decided to start cooking and taking my food to work with me. Some days I just can't get it together, and I end up eating fast food, but more often than not, I've been bringing my own food for the last few weeks. Bear in mind that I'm fat. But this is not about being fat. I have not gone on a diet, and I have not started an exercise program. The food I've been cooking is not health food. I've had macaroni and cheese with ham, rice and beans, cabbage rolls and rice, baked spaghetti, just whatever I can make a lot of so it will last me and John for a few days, without spending a lot of money. I still eat pizza, and I still have Reese's Cups every single day. I'm still fat, but my clothes seem looser than before, so I weighed myself today. In three weeks, making no change whatsoever in my lifestyle except for cutting out fast food four days a week, I've lost 20 pounds. I find that amazing. Sitting around on my rear, eating candy and pizza, not exercising, I have lost 20 pounds just by cutting down on fast food. Not even cutting it out, just cutting down. Seriously, how bad for you is that stuff? I think it must be healthier to live on bourbon and cigarettes than on fast food.

Fast food:
Nutritional value of cardboard, dipped in batter and deep-fried. Proper food: actually is food, has actual nutritional value, less carbohydrates, much, much less fats (i.e. generally not deep fried), and most cases you don't need to eat as much to feel satisfied.

Friend Smoke,
Am tempted to say: What's the hurry? that you are going FAST on FOOD? well do get the picture BUT am personally looking at another angle: Am I really hungry? that I eat? Find that mostly eat as a habit pattern and not out of real hunger. Imagine how much we as humans are wasting and living in HELL due to our own doing. Allow nature to do its own i.e. allow the body to feel hungry to give it some healthy food it can digest and enough in nutritions that it needs other than that, in general avoid. What do you say? Sounds good to me. I wasn't eating fast food because I like it, anyway. I was eating it because it was convenient.

Amazing, Smoke! I knew fast food wasn't good for us, but your story really puts that in perspective! 20 pounds in three weeks!

ah.... guess i better stop eating at mcdonalds. i wonder how much i'd lose if i stopped drinking soda too..... let's see. i'll see if i got the willpower to pull it off. oh, and the reason why i need to stop eating at mcdonalds is cause i work there, and get free food. i wonder how much i'd lose if i stopped both, cold turkey.

My sister has a friend who is a nanny, the child she looks after is 18 months old, the mum is a bit of a control freak and leaves a schedule for the week for the child which plans every hour. The child eats only junk food and twice a week the little girl who as I said is 18 months is to be taken to McDonalds
The nanny has tried to convince the mum to let her cook the meals for her, but the mum is insistant, she says she called into the house one saturday morning and the little girl was having an egg mc muffin for breakfast. The poor child is huge.

I bet you are saving a lot of money, too. Eating out easily costs ten dollars a meal (if not more), and adds up quite quickly when you eat there several times per week.
