These actually two unrelated question, but I didn't want to make 2 threads.
First, I want to try my hand at making my own granola bars. I wanted to start with apple cinnamon flavored since those are my husband's favorite. I couldn't find any decent dried apples, so I figured I would put my dehydrator to work. My question is if I wanted to flavor the apples, do I bake them? Do I just coat them and dehydrate them that way? Also, what's the best way to store fresh herbs? Should I vacuum seal them, or is a ziplock bag ok?

Umm I'm going to guess that you want an apple cinnamon granola bar. If that's the case, you could add the cinnamon to the dry ingreadents without worry. But if you are wanting apple cinnamon disks...maybe a fruit leather would be in order.
I've got a link that looks spot on. But I've never dried fruit before....herbs are my thing. Drying Best way to store fresh herbs...assumeing cut and still not on the plant...lol.. ..It depends on how fast I'm going to use it. If cut from plant.....dip in cold water and placed in bud vase on counter. no longer than a hour. Longer time like...maybe the next day or two...treat like cut but wrap in paper towel and place in zip bag and into the fridge. Just don't lose it. and no vacume seal. If overwet...it rots. From the grocery store....usually leave in container and place in fridge.

Just make sure you harvest the herbs in the early morning, that's when their oils are at their peak. Then gently wash them off in cool water.
I really don't know how to store fresh herbs, I usually just dry 'em.
