Default Do apples make you hungry?

I posted this at Keep Music Alive but didn't get as many replies as I had hoped, so I'll post it here too, shamelessly copying and pasting from that music forum to this forum to get more answers.

Apples make me hungry. If I eat one, an hour later I will be ravenous, more hungry than I would have been if I didn't eat anything at all. Sure, I'll be full right after I eat it, but this full will wear off unusually quickly. I've only met one other person to whom this happens, but on the other hand, I don't generally walk up to people and say, "Hi, do apples make you hungry?" so I'm doing a more thorough approach. Do apples make you hungry?

Aqualung...That is quite strange. Keep the research going and get back to us on this. I do get unusually hungry after I eat an apple. I guess that I have never really thought about it before. There has to be a reason for it.

Yeah. I'm currently thinking it might have something to do with the fact that it's an alkaline forming food, but I can't find anything to say that these types of food would make a person hungry.

Actually, it's just because it's a carb, and a fairly high GI one at that.

Try a slice of cheese with your apple next time and see if you don't get a different result.

(Hm, I'm working on my Master's in holistic nutrition at the moment...Uh...does it show? )

Yes I would agree that is most likely the case.

And you might end up losing weight without even trying.

Also...if you have that "postprandial dip" in mid-afternoon, where you fall asleep -- that means you had too many carbs for lunch or waited too long to eat. Over the long term, it's really dangerous for your health.

And it's one part of the explanation for why Americans are getting so fat. Look at what we eat for lunch, and how we eat it.

My grandparents never at a burger and fries while driving the car and called it "lunch."

Totally agree. When I switched my diet to cut out white bread ,white flours, white surgar. Plus really made sure I picked the right things, Not only did I have more energy but I didn't seem to get depressed like I sometimes did.

I can really tell if I change my diet now.
