Anyone eat goat meat here? I saw a thing on tv where they were saying it is as low fat as chicken yet more akin to beef in taste.

I've had it before at Middle Eastern restaurants, but never cooked it myself.

It's readily available at our local farmer's markets, since there are fair sized immigrant populations where goat is a part of their cuisine.

I've always wondered if it has to be prepped like lamb. If you don't prep it right it gets an off taste. That's why most American cooks don't use it -- they have no idea how to fix it.

This web site says kids can be used for about anything lamb can but the goats are tougher and used most for stewing. I bet it would make pretty good burger or sausage.

The nutritional value is amazing though. for 100 grams of meat the chicken has twice the calories but four times more fat.

This will sound strange, but I don't think I could eat goat unless I was starving...I don't eat any animal that lives in the wild...Goat, deer, horse, sheep, bear, rabbit, squirel, etc...It is strange that I would one and not the other. I just love nature, and animals I associate with it, I can't eat....I guess the only exception that I have made on that rule is wild boar...I just can't help that I love bacon....

Here to feathers...just still consider them non menu items..lol..Where I live, people around here eat anything they can shoot...possums, raccoons, squirels, rabbits, armadillo's....I live in hillbilly hell...

Goat meat is rather tasty. I've had in a taco mix, and it actually tasted better than a normal chemically "enhanced" cow does.
