Does anyone have any diet recipes to help me lose weight. I have to get my weight down and I'm determined to do so, but I'm having a hard time since I'm not much of a chef. I would love to get some tasty recipes from all you RF'ers that can help me out. I'm willing to try anything new. I love fish, so I have no problem with any fishy recipes and like I said, I'm willing to try new dishes.
Thanks Everyone! PFM

Try to eat mostly fruit and veggies. I'm on a diet right now. Our stove is being repaired so I'm eating less cooked food. Sometimes we buy food but in the evening, I sometimes eat fruit. Try not to eat late. When we eat late, the food doesn't digest properly and the body stores it as fat. Fruits and veggies will give you fiber to help lose weight. Drink lots of water and stay away from sofft drinks. I heard on the radio that the average bottle of soft drink has 17 tablespoons of sugar. A healthy sandwich that I eat is made by finely mincing veggies of your choice...I use sweet peppers, cucumber, tomato, carrots, onion etc. I add avocado also. Avocado gives it it's special flavour. Avocado has the good type of fats -ie, monounsaturated fat. Sometimes I will put in a little bit of cheese but it's not necessary especially since you are trying to be healthier. I just add olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. I toss everything up and eat it with whole wheat bread.
There is also a three bean salad that you can make. Here's a recipe from http://www.fatfree.com/recipes/bean-salads/3-bean-salad Fatfree 3 Bean Salad 1 pound fresh green beans, 1" pieces, steamed until tender & cooled 1 15-16oz can garbanzos 1 15-16oz can kidney beans 1 large red onion, coarsley chopped 1/2 cup seasoned rice vinegar Combine all ingredients in a sealed plastic container and shake well. Let sit in fridge overnight, gets better with age, up to 10 days in the fridge. I think that some people use apple cider vinegar instead. I think that using fresh beans instead of canned ones will be healthier. That website http://www.fatfree.com/recipes/ has a lot of healthy recipes.

Do you know, it's almost impossible to avoid flour in today's foods, though. Check the labels, you'll see. But I try. Fish is excellent. It's the most nutricious meat, and you can, in theory, eat as much as you want of it and never get fat. I haven't tested that proposition --I only have it 5 times a week. For lunch today I have a quick soup I made that consists of 1 cup of chicken broth and a handful each of scallops, chopped onion, peas, beans and swiss chard. It smelled edible (actually, I'm quite looking forward to it). I also have a couscous salad with almonds and walnuts. I'm not sure if couscous counts as processed, but I err on the side of taste. ![]()
