How do ya'll like your ice cream?
Italian only? What's your favorite store-bought brand and toppings (eg, ice creams usually available in grocery stores and regular brand-name stuff marketed as ice-cream toppings)? What's your favorite home-made ice-cream and favorite toppings (anything goes here - anchovies, muchrooms, whatever)? I noticed today that I can't fit enough ice-cream into my waffle-cone at home, so I get a big bowl of Blue Bunny Sugar Free Cherry Vanilla and eat the cones right along with it. ![]()

By the way, IMO Receipies and Cooking should be in the Arts sub-forum division thingy.

Ooo! Ice cream! I am terribly moody about my ice cream. When I was a little girl, I loved mint chocolate chip. When I was pregnant, I wanted peach ice cream topped with fruit. Right now, I want vanilla ice cream with Disaronno drizzled on top. Cold Stone has the best ice cream, in my humble opinion.

I like Breyers--sugar free--double churned--I am drawing a blank on the name but it has mini-reeses peanut butter cups in it with a few threads of peanut butter. I am not big on toppings but I do love floats--this summer my favorite is Stewarts Key Lime soda pop--with Breyers vanilla ice cream--cool refreshing with a touch of tartness in the key lime. To die for.

Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup is my all time favorite.
I also dig Cherry Garcia. (Drools at thoughts of icecream that I don't have the points for.)

For sorbet, I like Edy's Boysenberry. About twice a year I can get away with HagenDaz frozen vanilla yogurt with raspberry sorbet. Yummy. I love a soy ice cream product called "Chocolate Obsession" but it's very difficult to find. Apparently those of us dependent on non-dairy ice creams are only interested in vanilla and oh...maybe chocolate...or something with cookie crumbs in it (yuck!) I just bought an ice cream and sorbet maker so I can make my own stuff. I found some soy ice cream recipes online that might work. Quote:
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 stick butter (1/4 lb.) Melt in microwave on medium until melted. Yes, stir it a few times. Remelt when you want to use it again. Tastes a LOT better than the chemical-infested stuff they sell in the store, and it's cheaper. ![]() Actually, there is one ice cream I can eat. It's in this little town called Plainwell, Michigan, not too far from my mother's house. They get the milk from the farmer down the road. It isn't chemically altered by pasteurizing or homogenizing it. They make their own stuff. You've NEVER had better, and they have about 50 flavors. They make a blueberry swirl when the local blueberries are in season. Heavenly! |

I like to put about 10 Oreos in a baggie, pound the heck out of it and then stir it into vanilla and chocolate ice-cream.
YUM
