I find Bill Atkinson's Kentucky Series Photographs, which include several photos of flowering trees, to be reminicient of oriental art.

Hmmm, these photos look vaguely familiar. Wonder why?
I think you're right...especially the pink dogwood tree. And maybe you are thinking they look oriental because of the soft, misty air photographed in some of them? Also, Asian art showcases trees and plants often. The soft, muted tones remind me of Asian work as well along with the composition. Gorgeous! |

I also find it interesting that on several of the trees the flowers seem unsupported by branches, as if they are supported by air alone. It's almost mystical, don't you think? Very pretty effect.
