Default Jason's 16-color portrait thread

What the wonders of color-degeneration and ms Paint can do! So far, I only have portraits of myself to share. I got some of other people, but I don't think they would want me to share since I didn't tell them I did it. So it's only really my own I will show here.

Unless you want me to make one of you, at which point you can PM me a picture of yourself and I can do the process and try to capture the essence of the shot in 16 colors. Actually, I most often reduce it to no more than 3 colors. It's a lot harder than it looks.

Here's an example, though this first picture is AFTER I saved it as a 16-color image. This is the easy part, you just choose to "save as" a 16 color bitmap, and then I generally can tell how work-able it is. When I first saw this after saving it, I knew that because of the lighting and other ways that the color was distributed, that it had the potential for a great picture. I just didn't know what to do with it. I had it as my avatar for a while though, but realized that it could get more awesome.

Spoiler for pic:

And hence, I came out with this, more true to the tone I was trying to convey. I actually wrote a poem to go along with this I was so inspired by the image, but that's perhaps for another time. As of this post, this is my current avatar

Spoiler for pic:

This is probably my favorite one ever though, I was leaning my forehead way forward though, which gave it a sinister look, but I'll admit it also makes my head look wide for some reason. All pure red, for the win.

This next one was made very recently, and it turned out very nice. I wasn't sure what to do with the jaw and my left-cheek, but eventually figured it out. I like how it almost looks as if darkness is creeping over the right-side of my face and mouth, stopping me from screaming with the pain inside. I almost never work with this much yellow.

Spoiler for pic:

The use of color is extremely important with this, I need to know what works for certain tones and what doesn't. Here is an example of how color affects the tone. Unfortunately I couldn't find the full size of the second one.

Compared to my later version:

Spoiler for pic:

However, sometimes it just doesn't come out that great, either due to the lighting and hence not enough lighter spots, or due to not being able to figure out how to use the colors. This is one example of a picture that was going to not come out very well from the beginning.

Spoiler for pic:

Though I will say, that sometimes it can come out very well if done simply.

Spoiler for pic:

As I make more I will post them. Feel free to ask me to make you one, tho you can just send those pics over PM and I can make sure that people won't be able to tell what you look like in exact detail.

Oh, also this is one I wanted to share but couldn't due to picture restrictions. I'm currently working on getting all the red turned into the intense blue, pixel by pixel. When I'm done I'll see how good it actually looks, as right now the red is making the image look kind of unclear not being as intense as blue. If it doesn't look that good I'll try doing it all over again in a different color, perhaps red. However I really wanted to work with green or blue and blue seemed like it might just work for a really intense color for this one.

THIS ONE ISN'T FINISHED.

Spoiler for pic:

Though I just now had an idea... turn all that black white, and make all the blue and red black... been wanting to work with some brighter colors.

As in the original? I am hesitant of showing pictures of myself publically online with identifiable detail.

You can do it with any picture really, even your own avatar or whatever picture you want to try it with.

Also save it first as a 256 color bitmap then a 16 color bitmap if you want to make the pixels a bit less spotty. Sometimes I do that like with the purple and gray/white one (Second pic in the first post), but didn't on purpose for the all red and black one with the evil grin, I wanted that all one color and so the spottyness was needed.
