Does that send men running for the hills or does it stir within them a sense of pride that a women wants to help him reproduce himself in this world? Why is it that when a women meets a certain man all she can think about is having his babies. It also seems that men that are particularly keen on reproducing often choose a women that is moderate looking but is built for birthing little earthlings or little 'me's by the dozens. Sure we cant afford the little ones often...but that doesnt stop the instinct to birth the little ones like daisy's for the man that makes her overies jump for joy. What is it about a women and a man that stirs the instinct to reproduce.

I wasnt actually talking about being in love. Some women feel like copulating with a particular man for the sole purpose of having his babies. Its more than lust really, its the desire to nurture and look after a part of that man, whether hes going to be around or not. Preferably he will be around of course, and preferably they will be in love....

I can't really relate to the reaction you describe in your OP, but maybe you've answered it yourself in the post above. Maybe it's a desire to possess another by whatever means possible (by possessing his offspring even if she can't have him). Like most desires to possess another it most likely is not going to work out the way she hopes.

That said, when I see a stunningly gorgeous intelligent man I often reason that I should produce offspring with him because combined with my stunning beauty and intelligence we can advance evolution in just one generation by having kids. So, it's for the good of humanity really.
