I have two younger brothers: TK - 17, and Warren -15
Warren has a girlfriend whose name is Sam. They've been dating since October. As Freshmen in HS, I did not trust myself to say that their relationship is that serious. Warren, who is a cocky jerk sometimes, also confides in me with many things, including issues with Sam. Sometime in February, Warren asked me what someone should do if they're trying to help someone not cut themselves. I gave him my response, and made sure he knew that I was no authority on the subject, but it was probably best to tell that person's parents. It was Sam. I wasnt surprised to learn this. In MOST cases teenage girls are seeking attention, so they make up stories, or cut, or go anorexic to gain it. Warren was still worried about her, and said that her parents dont care about her like they should. Last week, in an attempt to show Sam how wrong it was to cut, and how much it really hurts other people, he cut himself. Personally, I didnt think this was the right course of action, and there must have been other ways to deal with this situation. But Warren came to me and said that Sam decided to stop cutting. I was surprised that it worked. Some would say that this was a selfless act of compassion, heroic almost. What do you think? |

I don't think I'd take that route, but wow.

A friend (we'll call her Amy) I have also cut in an attempt to show her friend, who was cutting, how much it hurts others. Now Amy cuts for her own problems. It just seems to perpetuate the issue rather than help it. |

And Ashley, I don't think that most people who cut do it for attention. At least not a single cutter I've ever met did. They did it to numb pain, not to get attention. I know for me, attention was the last thing I wanted, 'cause attention brought with it trouble and more fights at home, which in turn led to more cutting. So, attention doesn't play a role in most cases, in my opinion. But I'm not an expert on this subject and neither are you, so I guess it doesn't really matter what we think. |

Their website is being overhauled right now, so they only have a temporary site set up, while the other one is being created. Hear is their statement, that was on their old web site, about why they chose the name Kutless. .:. Why We're Kutless .:. We wanted our name to represent the impact of what Christ did for us on the cross. Christ took our beating and paid the wages of our sin. He took our cuts for us, leaving us "Kutless."
