I just feel that mixing the two are detrimental to both. I feel that they are attacking the same questions but with different forms of inquiry on different ends of the problem. I find both forms of inquiry to be valid and valuable, so I just want to make sure she learns both, rather than leaning on one too much to explain the other.

Well, if your books are secular, you're going to have to bring in the creationism and if the books are christian, you'll have to bring in the secular...assuming you want them to learn both (and it sounds as if you do)...so shouldn't matter whether the books are christian or not.

Kind of off the topic of how to teach your kids about creationism and secular teachings... I'm a student and i go to a public high school, and i think it's ok. I understand people's concerns about the violence and things like that, and parents should look into that, but i think there's some other things to consider. One of my friends is now homeschooled, and most of her friends are from her dance school. Parents with homeschooled kids: who are your kids friends with.. just people from extracurricular activities? I mean, i don't really know who i would talk to if it wasn't my friends from school. I guess neighbors?

I deeply appreciate all the good advice! I want to prepare the necessary lesson plans for kindergarten. Yes, I know my daughter isn't out of diapers yet, but I feel that the experience of actually putting it together early on will be beneficial... I will be able to have the time to fine tune it a bit before I actually start and get comfortable with it. I want the practice! Anyway, does anyone have any good resources for kindergarten or general teaching advice?

I know of two sisters that have been homeschooled. One is a... how should I put this...amorous young lady and the other is more reserved and introverted. I myself went to private schools and can tell you that you are definitly not sheltered from Sex, Drugs and Peer pressure. But that is a good thing.
The two girls I've mentioned both have their own way of dealing with society. One sleeps around to get her way and the other just submitts to anything. Because they haven't been exposed to the lessons outside of the classroom. The lessons only their peers can teach.

Whether homeschooling is good for the kids or not depends entirely on who's doing the homeschooling. I've known a lot of homeschoolers; some of them did a brilliant job, and some of them produced kids who were naïve and almost completely ignorant. I have no doubt that you'll do a brilliant job, Leonne.

Agreed. Just know that it is hard work and dedication to your child.
Good luck with it.
