Do you? do you allow your 'higher self' (if that is what it is) to give you hints on what your body is telling you that it needs ?
I had a lump removed from my mouth 3 days ago. The wound is clean, and healing well, except for a painful sore on the inside of the cheek (maybe the surgeon bruised or damaged it). I was getting the urge all morning to peel an orage (remove all the shin) and keep segments between the sore onthe cheek, and the gum. My wife thought it dangerous to do something I could not know would work. I disagreed. I did so this afternoon, and now the sore is much better. Coincidence ? Placebo effect ? Have others felt the same urge to do something to make themselves feel better, albeit unconventional ?

I do it all the time. I don't really have an example, but I listen to my body, and it tells me stuff. *shrugs*

My body tell me things like, "don't you dare have that second beef enchilada", and then I ignore it, and then later my body is like, "I told you so, jackass".

When I was about 6 years oldd 9maybe younger - this was told to me by my mother), she found me scratching the walls of the bungalow in which we lived (The walls were painted in lime whitewash). A bit concerned, she took me to the doctor. You can imagine it ; "Good morning Doctor!" "Good morning, and what is the problem with your son ?" "He is eating the house" The doctor actually replied " I think he is low on calcium, it is nature, talking to the body, to make up whatever deficiencies." I guess that is the same as happens with some women, during pregnancy.

I guess that is how all the homeopathic stuff came about...listening to your body when you have no other option back in the old wives tale era...now everyone just runs to the doctor and expects our bodies to tell him/her what the matter is and what the best cure is...I think you just tapped into an old art form called listening to what your body is telling you...HOWEVER...when pregnant it's not always the best thing to do...can you imagine getting cravings for doggie treats like 'beggin strips'; My daughter had horrible cravings for them and as soon as she would eat bacon it'd go away. She also had cravings for play dough...(salt), modeling clay (who knows), I have had things like that pop into my head when I don't feel well...I was shocked to learn that WD40 is actually a good rub for painful joints, yep read it in a magazine...haven't tried it though, can't stand the smell of the stuff.
As for kids eating the house...a lot of kids used to eat paint...lead based back some time ago and were poisoned by it...I suppose they were just lacking minerals. Sometimes do you think it's bad to listen to what your body says as much as you should listen to it? I sometimes feel like just cutting parts OFF to get rid of pain...don't think that would be real wise either do you?? Good point though Mich. |
