I think under eye concealer is a good way to go if you wear makeup. As FeathersinHair metioned, yellow or even orange toned concealer will tone down the blue under your eyes. Pink tones will tone down any green hues.

Prescriptives, I think that's the name of it...makes concealor, foundation and powders that are tinted. I don't have dark circles under my eyes but I have really, really rosey cheeks...all the time....and I'm fair with freckles which just sort of amplifies the whole rosey effect. I've used concealer with green tints before.

Here's a link with some info.

Hope this helps.

Oh...I don't know if this is true but I had a cosmetology instructor who swore by witch hazel...using witch hazel as an astringent...
Witch hazel works to reduce bruising by shrinking the capilleries (sp?), so I guess it would work every bit as effectively as hemmorhoid cream, which I've heard somewhere some models use to shrink their bags.
I think I'd rather go with the witch hazel than putting something designed for my bum around my eyes, however. I think you would find it's probably dependent on the actual cause of the dark circles, whether it's due to a hard night or something you have all the time. Can't hurt to try if it concerns you though.

*Edit: Here you go people. Apparently continual dark circles are caused by - in simple terms - the capilleries under your eyes are leaking blood which then is then broken down by the same process as the blood from a bruise is, which causes the discolouration. Which explains why the witch hazel would help, but I'd suggest wet cotton wool left to sit for a while under the eyes rather than just using it as an astringent.
There's a bucketload of creams out there that are supposed to fix it, but they all seem to carry quite strong warnings about not actually getting them in your eyes, which is a worry when they're made to be smeared in that general area.

I've been using witch hazel as a toner for years. I don't know that wetting some cotton wool with it and sticking it under your eyes is a great idea though...if I apply it just a little more liberally than normal, my eyes burn like hell from the fumes until it dries. If you could put up with that, I guess it might work. It's great stuff for bruises.

I've had dark circles under my eyes my whole life, along with the accompanying bags. Although they're not as bad as they used to be (bags or dark circles). It does depend somewhat on the state of my health how bad the circles are.

I get them slightly when I get tired. But when I get really tired, not only do I get them so dark a noticable that it looks like a black eye, my face also gets pale. I have to stay up a few days with very little sleep to take a picture and post it.

Really? I reckon I could snort it without ill effect. You vying with mum to share the bubble?

I disliked using it, since I'm so unused to make up that even now I struggle to even remember stuff like lipstick so that I don't look like a ghost.

While I used to be shy of them, I try now to look on it as a badge of honor. When I see them on other people and it's plainly not just because of a lack of sleep, I nod and tend to think "That's a survivor!"
Dark circles are for numerous reasons..the main one is from believe it or not ALLERGIES. Second is low iorn and then down from there is oncoming illness, sleep deprivation,worry...etc...I've had dark circles all my life and I learned once I found the reason how to curb them a bit...slices of cucumber also works as do green tea bags placed on the eyes for about 10-15 min. really makes a difference...I have never been one to wear much makeup...never needed it much...so as for concealers they can rub off right...so it would be better to find what works for you to reduce the appearance...Right?
