I have to lose weight, but I can't.

I do such little excercise. I can't do more than a mile walk a day, and I am so slow that I don't burn calories off. Eating is down to a minimum, and I have given up alcohol (which I should never have been on anyway, because of the medication).

I'm not surprized about what you were saying about young mothers-to-be smoking; what I find upsetting about that is that is that they know what damage they are doing..........before, with the previous generations, they had no idea - like my mum, for example!

And I aint small! wish I was..........

No, I just have what works for me, which is working out every morning and then doing strength training 3 times a week in the evenings. I'm trying to it all naturally, just with diet and exercise and not resorting to trying the latest magic pill or some crash fad diet. It's a complete life change forever, not just until I hit my ideal weight.

Michel, have you considered doing water aerobics (exercising in a swimming pool)? I know a guy who spent the better part of a decade flat on his back in bed (originally from a back injury, I think). His poor wife (now his ex) used to wait on him hand and foot, because he'd just stay in bed and knock on the wall whenever he wanted something. Anyway, him being a complete ******* aside, he eventually got so overweight and unfit that his doctor told him he was going to die if he didn't do something about it - he had a dodgy heart, but they couldn't operate on him until he lost some weight. Like you, he couldn't do conventional exercise, so the doctor suggested water aerobics. Last time I saw him, he was well on his way to "normal" weight. Water aerobics is great for people who suffer joint pain, or have other medical conditions which prevent them from doing strenuous physical exercise on dry land. Seriously, if you haven't, try it.

I will second the water aerobics being good for excersizing with sore joints. Water aerobics was my first step to strengthening my knee back up after surgery. Even my brother who broke his femur and dislocated both hip sockets has a since of mobility freedom while in the water.

Only 2 other folks I know ever said that..Richard Simons and Dr.Phil..Are you reading Dr.Phil's one book Maize?
Heck I could eat anything I wanted to all my life and not gain an ounce...THEN came menopause...eeek...now I have to watch even looking at food. I have no idea of how to trim back down to my ideal weight...I won't do diet pills or any chemical stuff like that...but don't quite know what to do given the current state of my condition since the fall...even my doctor says we'll worry about the weight at a later dats...but I worry about it NOW. I have no clothes that fit
