I think it grossly oversimplifies how language works and what it does. Though I appreciate how that can be comforting.

BTW, I don't think Chomsky even argues that language is completely innate. He argues that there is an innate system for the acquisition of language, but that it operates by interacting with the linguistic structures of the child's culture. It is a biological operating system waiting for some useful programs to be loaded into it, if that helps.
