where is the scientific explanation of the sixth sense?
why not just bring up the fact pigeons can fly and we can't?or that turtles live longer? |

Actually elephants like to swim in the ocean if they have the chance. More likely is the fact that most animals have a sencitivity to both sisemic events and magnetic fields. Studies have shown that animals can detect earthquakes with suprizing accuracy. They probably felt the inital quake (9.0) our detecters picked it up in Africa, so its not a big streach to say they did too.
Then animals can move faster and more efficently than most people, who will choose to gawk at the wave before actually running. Small animals would have bolted down holes and burrows and may not be found as they drowned underground. Or we are too busy looking for our own species to really notice the other animals. wa:do

My father has no sence of smell, but he is still able to taste the basics. Salty, Sweet, Bitter, Sour and Umami. He has less sence of the refinements of these basic flavors. He often had to use much more of the 'subtle' spices to get the flavor for example. Gave me a high tolerance of Garlic as he loved to cook Itallian.
![]() Many animals do have sences we do not. Birds navigate long distances using the Earths magnetic field, they have a natual compass sence. Sharks can detect electromagnetic fields given off by living and non living things. (thus they love to chew on submerged phone cables) Pit vipers can see by detecting the heat given off by living things. Many more have Chemo-receptors that let them detect chemicals in the air or on objects. So in short many animals do indeed have a 'sixth sence' that we do not. wa:do

PW--is it true that humans can detect these things too, we're just not as sensitive to them? For example, if we were subjected to high levels of electromagnetism, would we be able to 'sense' it?

We can be affected by some electromagnetic fields and probably could learn to recognize the funny feeling as the presence of such a field.
