Why is evolution only opposed by a significant amount of people in the US?

You think I am not free to think what I want? I think it is because in America you are NOT allowed to think what you want as much that causes this. The fundamental Christians tell you what to do and you listen. I see America as one of the most intolerant country's in the west.

It's a matter of POWER! A few megalomaniacal preachers thought that they were losing the flock to science, and so they have set themselves up against science. What a bunch of nimrods! The scriptures do not denounce evolution and evolution does not denounce God. Only small minded people believe that either is true.

Above all else, the United States is all about consumerism. We are lied to thousands of times a day, and we are constantly encouraged to lie to ourselves by people who want our money. EVERYTHING is for sale in America. Every desire is good as long as we're willing to pay out some money to satisfy it. The United States is corporate owned and corporate run. Everything, including truth, God, science, evolution, morality, is for sale, here. No matter how silly the fantasy, if someone wants it enough to pay some money out, someone else will find a way to sell it to them.

We have now a growing subculture in the United States of willful ignorance. Millions of poorly educated people have decided that it's easier to simply buy into the lie that stupid people are smart, and smart people are stupid, than it is to accept that they are woefully ignorant, and in serious need of some self-education. And in good corporate fashion, the United States government all too often panders to them for money, or for votes, or for power. Because everything is for sale, here. Any lie, and fantasy, any willfully ignorant proposition you want ratified, all you have to do is offer some money, or some votes, or even just some collective attention, and there will be politicians and media mouth-pieces, and hucksters of all kinds clamoring to tell you that lie with dripping sincerity.

The United States has become that thoroughly perverted by it's own greed. We are a spectacular example of what not to become.
