Absolute nonsense! The theory of evolution is no more atheistic than any other scientific theory. It is no more atheistic than the theory of relativity, or the theory of electro-magnetism, or germ theory, or quantum theory etc. None of these scientific theories make any mention of “God” or any supernatural forces. But that does not make them atheistic, it simply makes them scientific.

The best and the only one available, in fact. Creationism doesn't have a real shot at it, and panspermy could perhaps explain the origin of life on Earth, but not the variety of species.

I can't think of any theories other than those currently accepted by science that propose any mechanism for biological change.

While it's true that some misguided atheists embrace evolution specifically as a part of their anti-theist ideology (Darwin-fish bumper stickers and Provine's ramblings spring to mind) nevertheless most atheists are much smarter than that. Don't paint them all with the same brush.

Keep in mind that even many modern creationists accept evolution, even if it is in a more limited form. For example, the principles of change over time and natural selection would be required to move from the lesser number of species on the Ark to the much geater number now. The theory of evolution is not in and of itself ideological. No science is.

Atheists' ideologies do sometimes exhibit certain characteristics of religion, and some atheists unfortunately parrot whatever the others say and l
