Freshwater, Saltwater.

For me some of the most interesting questions are the simple ones. Such as:

If there was a great flood in which the entire world was underwater. How is it now that we have freshwater species that could not survive in a saltwater enviroment, the sea?

I think you are looking for ways to question the biblical accounts on some stories. Is it that, or are you trying to work your way into (or out of) a given belief system?

I don't believe that there was a massive flood, but I think a good way to explain it would be to say that species mutated to the point where certain ones need either salt or fresh water to survive.

Two technical posibilities(?) come to mind: Firstly, even today large bodies of fresh water and salt water can be adjacent without mixing due to density and other factors (eg: link) And secondly, the fish we have today could be the descendants of the smaller number that survived, becoming more specialised via natural selection along the way since then.

Well TBH I beleive in Evolution but like to bounce ideas or ask questions of Creationism. Sometimes it looks like an attack which is not the desiered outcome. I'm also trying to find out what Christians actually believe. For the Church has many differnt opinions within itself. Really I just question everything! Sorry if that sounds confusing!

I was basically (this is an awful, awful pun) fishing for an answer. And that was an acknowledgment of evolution within a story explaining why evolution doesn't exist.

It's hard to predict what would happen if the Earth flooded but it raises questions as to if it did, and then receaded, which it would, that fish would end up land locked or in lakes?

How did they get there? Why do they resemble their saltwater counter parts but can no longer survive there? Is it cause they have adapted to their enviroment? Evolved?

Sure. The huge proliferation of Cichlids are said to have come from a salt-water ancestor for example. How does this challenge the flood claims?

Sorry, I'm not trying to disprove the flood.

Why is it that some believers in Creationism can't accept Evolution. Otherwise how did similar species end up in different locations around the world (from possibly a flood, or higher sea levels), now wouldn't be able to survive in each others habitats. Surely that's adaption, which is evolution.
