I am referring to creationist and ID proponents in general (honestly its pretty much the same thing I don’t know why I state them separately) and their assertion that evolution is a dangerous theory, and that somehow this assertion makes evolution any less a valid theory. Atomic theory – now that is dangerous and has actually killed scores of people but that does not make it any less valid, so why is “evolution is dangerous” supposed to be a compelling argument about why evolution is untrue? Moreover where do creationists get the idea that evolution is a dangerous theory from?

Also, they think evolution takes people away from God's true message - that being that men are made of mud and women are made of spare rib.

If you look up the work of Dr. Hovind's "The Dangers of Evolution" and Ben Stein's "Expelled" you will find at least some of the claims that evolution is dangerous.

Follow the link. And no, I'm not asking you to agree with it, I'm just answering the question that was asked.

I think that this is the answer:
“They're worried that evolution reduces man's importance, they find the concept of being just another animal amongst animals, and being related to those animals quite offensive” Now let see if this is rational and logical, is it logical/reasonable to say that humans are just another animal? I think that the day that they can prove that animals animal can reason, have Moral Law and free will I’ll be willing to believe this, it is evident that the most superficial observation will dismiss their claim. As for the quip “they prefer thinking they're made out of mud” Well, I better not say what I think of it. Why is it dangerous? First of all it justify the animalistic practices of some, I don’t understand why some people act like animal do and call it natural, after all we a just animal. Second it diminishes human responsibilities to the Moral Law that all humans have and animals don’t. Third it put humans at the level of animal that are governed by instinct and have no concept of morality. |
