Why do so many proponents of creation or ID believe evolution is a “dangerous” theory?

Evolution is dangerous to YEC. I know several people who first began to question religion becuase evolution disproved YEC, and ultimately lost their faith.

What you have here is an insight into the fact that not all humans that ever lived shall be saved. That the account of genesis is not literal, that it isn’t a scientific treatise, the genesis account is an appropriate massage for the time in which it was announced (Mose/Bronze age)
I have known several people that have gained or confirmed their faith by having a closer look at what this doctrine is, I like to point out to you that the Bible says that the earth existed before the creation of humans, plant and animals, that God exist outside time, “And the earth was without form and empty”.
Faith is a Gift from God given to those that God elect, if some one inquires into the wonders of creation and looses faith, that individual is not an elect, what people tend to ignore is that God is infinitely sovereign, that man cannot oppose His will, that he declares in His word “Rom 9:15 For He said to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." God is omniscient and send an infallible message to the elect and they turn to their saviour.
