We already do produce offspring with apes. Humans are among the many species that comprise the family of 'Great Apes'.

no don't worry you won't have to worry about an abortion

though there are animals that can cross breed (most famous would prob be a mule and a horse) humans evolved to far away from any animal to give birth to another species exept humans.
human+human can however lead to a "further advanced human" but if those further advanced humans reproduce for a few generations they would also slowly become infertile to normal humans

People are apes. Could a human being reproduce with a chimpanzee? We don't know, and I don't think anyone is going to do the experiment and find out.

No, we couldn't and there's no need to do the experiment to find out. We're not even in the same genus.
