Apparently you are right. I can not pass your high school tests on your Theory of Evolution. Do I have a different understanding of this Theocracy? Perhaps I do. To answer the question posed in the title of this thread: Is it possible for a man to produce offspring with an ape?

Seeing as how humans are a kind of ape, yes, quite possible. Happens every day.

But it is not possible for homo sapiens to produce offspring with other, non-human members of the great ape family.

First of all, we are not of the same genus. We are of the same family - Hominidae. Humans are of the genus homo. Gorillas are of the genus gorilla. Chimps are of the genus pan. And orangutans are of the genus pongo.

Secondly, even if we were of the same genus, which we are not, we still would not be able to cross-breed. A major part of the definition of species is reproductive isolation. In other words, that's how we know two animals are of different species, by their inability to reproduce with each other. There are very few exceptions.

I have never heard of scientists trying to fertilze a human egg with the sperm of an ape or chimp. The ape, chimp and human species are primates so perhaps it's possible it could work. There of course would be a great moral outcry from the public if they found out.

I highly resent brown eyes being characterized as an aberation, or adulteration of the gene pool.
