Cats like to kill their prey, not scavenge it.

But back to old satchmo, why would there be fossils? They could have come over with or after human beings sometime within the last 10,000 years.

we have plenty of fossil humans and other human remains.
feral cats (like all carnivores) will eat any available dinner, carnivores are lazy by nature.

I don't disagree. It would be much more difficult for a land animal to evade humans specifically searching for it than animals that live in the ocean depths. The megamouth shark is another fairly recent find among giants of the deep.
