I dont think you understand how biology classifies things, if something is genetically an animal then it is an animal, the name animal, today, does not relate to movement anymore than orbits relate to geocentic heavenly spheres.

Oh I do Halycon, I just dont agree with certain distinctions, a colony of eukaryotic cells is not the same as a multicellular animal, even though they are both animals.

But the word animal comes from the same root word as animate, to move...why not give sponges and corals a new distinct classification?

I am a biologist.
And sponges are animals, they move vast quantities of water to gather their food. They are not colonies they are individual organisms. (several experiments have demonstrated this!)
(Individual coral animals live in colonies that is true, but each coral polyp is an individual creature)

You should brush up on biology.

Sponges are not multicellular, there are no specialised cells in sponges as in multicellular animals, you knew this right?
