I think that the ID that includes things like "irreducible complexity" and the idea that evolution could not physically happen without the direct intervention of God shows a fundamental misunderstanding of evolution and of biology, and therefore directly relates to the ability of a biology professor to do his or her job.
I think that a biology professor losing tenure for promoting ID would be just as justified as a history professor losing tenure for denying the holocaust. Both positions may come from personal opinions that aren't strictly related to the job at hand, but both demonstrate that the supposed expert does not have the requisite knowledge and understanding of their subject matter required for the job.

1) Billions of people believe in something different than you do. We do not choose to complicate the issue. The number of people who believe in a proposition gives no value to the truth of that proposition. 2) I misunderstood your point about mathematics. The way it was presented sounded like the argument of how can the human population decrease if we all have two parents. However, it still doesn't logically show that we originally came from just two human beings. Evolutionary theory does not claim that individual species must arise from an original pair of that species. The evidence of several variations of hominids shows us that homo sapiens didn't suddenly appear male and female. Variations in physical structure arise from the genetic variation accounted for by natural selection. Or did God specifically put people with sickle cell anemia in a certain geographic location, individuals with a higher proportion of developing fat cells in norther climes........no need. The assertion you have made is nothing more than a gap filling argument. It proves nothing about the Biblical god. |

OK, let's use that math of yours. I came from two, and each of my parents came from two. That means I have 4 grandparents. They each had two parents, so there are 8 great grandparents, 16 great great grandparents, 32 great great great grandparents, 64 great great great grandparents. So even going back only 6 generations I already come from 64 people. By your logic - that it's just a matter of simple mathematics - does this mean we are all descended from hundreds of trillions of ancestors? Or does it mean that time flows backward for creationists?

Once we have seen scientific proof that God is real and exists, it goes to proof that as we have been told in texts handed to man from God some 4000 years ago (dead sea scrolls) God made everything in 6 days and rested on the seventh. Good enough for me Cuz, science has proof that the universe started of as a big bang, no? Then just as the universe started with a big bang, so we must have come from two, is it Ok for us to believe one accepted truth but we cannot use the same theory of expansion for our own creation?
