For those folks who believe in both god and evolution.
Evolution says life started as a primitive process. So was the evolution of man scripted by god? So all of living history is not random but all actions until the evolution of man were directly controlled by god until man evolved? Did god just stack the odds a certain way? And if the answer is yes, has the control been switched off? When? |

Im not one that believes in God but i'll answer aswell
![]() Evolution is never random, and if you like, it is scripted by the selection pressures of the enviroment the organisms live in. It has no inherent aim, and humans arnt the 'end product' anymore than any other animal presently living is. It will continue on into the future. I find applying God to evolution is a bit hollow, seeing as its a pretty round about way of creating us. All he would have to do is start it off and sit back and watch. A fascinating spectator sport indeed as richard dawkins says. :P

If God, as divine computer programmer (let's say...), created a program for His universe to be called "Evolution" which was designed to progenerate life within creation, then I see no reason that God would have an active part in the processes it actioned once the program was running.
Thus, it seems to me that Deistic Evolution is far more likely than Theistic Evolution, though it's also possible that God intevenes from time to time to change something about the program, perhaps altering some outcomes. |

Did he design things so that man would inevitably be part of that evolution ? - I think so; after all, he is a clever guy - don't underestimate him! ![]() Just as much as God "orchestrated" man giving in to forbidden fruits - it was part of the plan. It was God's will; I don't understand it, but then I would never be so presumtuous as to try and read his mind........

I have not personally seen enough evidence to convince me that evolution is true, but if you were to convince me of it, it would not lessen my belief that there is a higher power who set it all into motion.

Evolution shows life started as a hugely primitive process and became us, cats dogs and bugs and assorted others. So when god turned on the switch and created that first genetic code that reproduced, did he plant a human seed in there or are we just a somewhat random result? Since I assume most folks would say we aren't a random event, that means that god has been controlling physical existance on earth on a second by second basis since the start of life. That puts a new sort of slant on any notion of free will. If we had no control over a portion of our physical destinies. Or were we just evolved to a certain point and then set free? |

If there is/was a god, I don't believe he would be the personified, anthropomorphic being as portrayed by most religions. But rather more like a force or energy that likely would've had some indirect, passive hand in the evolutionary process.
