Did/does god direct evolution? (Earth, Deist, creation, theist)

I recognise the truth in that assertion, but I do find a certain level of irony in it. Both religion and physics have to theorise into the unknown to justify the actual origin of all things. To say, therefore, that ID cannot be true because the creation of God cannot be explained is, I think, equivalent to saying physics cannot be true because we do not know how the universe really came about.

For either God or the natural creation of the universe, we find ourselves having to explore into previous realms we assume had different conditions than we know now. In that respect, adherence to one or the other is more a matter of preferential speculation than actual fact. To claim so fully that one "cannot be true" is therefore unreasonable.

Actually, science is a long way towards that goal, the difference between science and religion is that religion doesn't investigate, it just assumes.

Evolution says life started as a primitive process. So was the evolution of man scripted by god? So all of living history is not random but all actions until the evolution of man were directly controlled by god until man evolved?

Did god just stack the odds a certain way?

And if the answer is yes, has the control been switched off? When?

Evolution doesn't require a god.

How are these questions similar? Evolution, or the change in inherited characteristics of a population between generations, can be observed any time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but no one has reportedly seen the Christian God in over 2,000 years.
