I believe God made the Earth to take care of itself and he created the creatures to be able to adapt to their environment. Science and God are not incompatible, at least I don't think so.

I have yet to hear scientifically how intimate matter becomes life. Never-the-less, I believe in evolution with God at the helm. There come a time when questions can't be answered and although there will eventually be a scientific answer, it will only lead to more questions. Matter had to begin somewhere and with all the engineering in the universe and the realities of entropy, it only seems far to try to understand the universal Engineer.

Curious, what do you mean by "intimate" matter?

It might be better to say that existence is characterized by the creative capacity of the interplay between chaos and constraint. As for the question, I believe it was Buckminster Fuller who famously noted that "God is a verb."
