Manipulated -
I expect you know your signature is a Carl Sagan quote, and of course good advice for truth seekers of all kinds. Among many other things, he also said: "The idea that God is an oversized white male with a flowing beard, who sits in the sky and tallies the fall of every sparrow is ludicrous. But if by 'God,' one means the set of physical laws that govern the universe, then clearly there is such a God. This God is emotionally unsatisfying... it does not make much sense to pray to the law of gravity." My point being, sure, there's no evidence that God doesn't exist. But when compared to other possibilities for which there is plenty of evidence, who ya gonna call? |

All natural phenomena are beautiful? Decomposition of a mangled corpse, a heaping pile of feces, vomit, etc... are probably not the most beautiful things. So all natural phenomena are not beautiful. Beauty cannot exist without its counter-partner, uglyness. For something to be beautiful, it has to overcome something ugly. There has to be something to be compared to. If everything is seen as beautiful, sooner or later, something will be thought of as least beautiful or ugly.
Why do things appear beautiful? Well, that's human perception for you. Different people like different things. Some may say that blood is disgusting, while others find it beautiful. Some may say fire is unpleasent, while others (myself very much) would say it's one of the most beautiful things you can ever witness. |
