I'm going to agree with angellous on this one, that teaching it as true isn't really teaching anything but not to think for themselves.

I think true teaching is giving ALL points of view and allowing kids to make up their own mind, about which is true, or even let them think of something new!

The sad part, is that no one has presented inconclusive proof that God did not participate in the design or implementation of evolution. For all ANYONE knows, God designed evolution to begin with and so it's design is not only intelligent but rather eloquent. Therefore, it appears that the REAL intellectual dishonesty belongs to those who dismiss it out of turn.

But here's the rub. This is a theological rather than a scientific assertion. Science can neither prove nor disprove any role God has played in evolution in either it's design or implementation. Ergo, ID should not be taught in the classroom, but in the home or religious institution. Ergo #2, atheism should not be taught or encouraged in the classroom either. This was the case in both my daughter's and son's AP Biology class. In one, my son was told that theists are "idiots". In my daughter's class she was thanked for not believing in creation. Neither the assertion or the denial of God has any place in the classroom.

I agree that the subject of god (for or against) shouldn't be taught a science class. God is not part of science because it cannot be tested, and therefore cannot be proven or disproven.
However, the other stuff that ID/Creationism often promotes, young Earth, anti-evolution, etc., can be disproved with science.

How did a thread on whether ID/Creationism promotes sloppy thinking turn into a thread on whether the existence of a god is compatible with evolution? Please stick to the topic!
