"Expelled" The Movie (beliefs, evolution, creation, science)

Hiya gang. I heard about an upcoming controversial documentary movie about the evolution debate and I thought I would get a thread under way as I'm sure it's going to cause some interesting discussion. It's already causing a lot of controversy. The trailer is up.

I would like to reply, but that would turn this from a debate about this movie to a debate about evolution.

I wonder if the movie plans to be so critical of the case against Intelligent Design, when there is far more scientific criticism for that than evolutionary theory.

The only controversy that I am aware of about evolution is some of the minor processes behind evolution. However, every credible biological scientist believes that the best-suited animals are more able to reach adulthood, breed and pass on their genes, which forms the basis of evolutionary theory.

Yeah, I'm waiting to see the movie in it's entirety. I may have been a little premature starting this thread.

For those who don't have the bandwidth to watch the trailer the movie deals with some of the culture behind the debate, especially situations where people have been expelled from some kind of formal institution for their creationist/ID beliefs, and what's behind it all.

I'm not looking for an argument but I'll throw out some counter quotes:

"Mr. Stein, a freelance columnist who writes Everybody’s Business for The New York Times, conducts the film’s on-camera interviews. The interviews were lined up for him by others, and he denied misleading anyone. “I don’t remember a single person asking me what the movie was about,” he said in a telephone interview. "

" Walt Ruloff, a producer and partner in Premise Media, also denied that there was any deception. Mr. Ruloff said in a telephone interview that Rampant Films was a Premise subsidiary, and that the movie’s title was changed on the advice of marketing experts, something he said was routine in filmmaking. He said the film would open in February and would not be available for previews until January."

Like I said, it's controversial already

Not only did they change the title, they changed what the movie examined. Read the two different blurbs on the blog I posted.

I hear you, but as always, there are two sides to the story:

I'm not making judgements as I haven't seen it yet, but it's fun already.
