If the whole question of the definition of life is subjective. I didn't phrase it very well, my apologies.
If the question of what you want to call life is not a black and white issue, then the question of whether certain things are life or not is subjective, for example the question of viruses. If what is life and what isn't is subjective, then so is the question of where the one changes into the other.
