We can see the edge of the observable universe, yes. But in our modern model of the universe, there is no edge or center. However, the universe is also finite. Saying that the universe is like a sphere is not accurate, it's an analogy--it's one way in which we can imagine how something can be finite yet have no edge. I'll comment more on this later...seriously you guys should check out my astronomy book it's filled with fascinating information on modern cosmology.
