CNN reports:
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe....ap/index.html I found it interesting that the bear that killed the monkey shared it with the other bears. He had a sense of community with his bear buds. In a religion vs science perspective was/is there a moral issue to address in the killing of the monkey and on a secondary note did the bears exhibit a human-like behavior in the killing of the monkey and the sharing of it with his community? What I mean is is there "a bit of that bear" in mankind too? |

There's a bit of every living thing in every living thing on earth, since we all evolved from the same ancestor, and we all live on the same planet.

Monkey butt! Yum!
It appeared that the bears hunted in a pack of some sorts. As with all wild creatures the "pecking order" had to be honored. The only moral here is: When surrounded by bears, don't act like a monkey's uncle. ![]()

I know its politically incorrect, but my first thought on reading this was that any monkey who couldn't evade a sloth bear was probably best removed from the gene pool....

I think this has previously all been speculated upon by simon+garfunkel.

I see a distinction between killing and murder. A carnivore kills another animal for food, and there is no moral issue to be had with it. The balance of predator and prey is very important to the survival of both. Humans are certainly not unique in having social behavior, like sharing.
