Interesting! We usually see them around where we live, so that's pretty cool. I thought that to be considered a marine mammal, you had to gain all of your food from it (which a polar bear does, except for the odd scavenged scrap), and give birth in the water (which the polar bear doesn't). So they've been classified as such, eh? I wonder where evolution will take them as Hudson's Bay starts freezing later and later (which it does already).

well... seals don't give birth in the water and they are definatly marine mammals.

as for the problem of Hudsons bay it is already having a negitive impact on the bear population... they are declining and those that survive are being forced closer and closer to humanity. Bears don't have enough time to develop the fat reserves needed for surviving.
