This is very old news now....and has gone over the horizon somewhat....

If this ever happens it will be many years away.
there is also the position of the Church of England as an established Church to consider. With the Queen at its head.
At the moment even the Bishops are chosen from a choice of three candidates by the Prime minister. Brown has said he is moving that choice to the Houses of Parliament. ( which in itself would cause uproar as yet we have never had Political Bishops.)

First the Church must be disestablished.....
The African Bishops comprise both the largest and most traditional wing of the Church. and as a break away, could Join Rome with out too much difficulty, who would then need to take over their funding.
The American Episcopals and the Church of England would then once again become the core of the Anglican faith.

Given the polity of both C of E and ECUSA, I doubt that anything further than "intercommunion" could take place, with all bodies retaining their sovereignty.

That wouldn't be acceptable to Rome though - just look at the treatment of the poor Uniates who think they are 'Orthodox in communion with Rome' (as if such is even canonically possible). That's what you'd end up with, a western version of the Unia.
