None of these people in these videos are me but I have a passion for this instrument, I find it's tones to be both beautiful and haunting, maybe someday I will post mine but it's here for you to enjoy or not.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBPnYMtE6EM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXLg1X1WX8M To me the sounds are very similar to the shakuhachi flute, I own one but I'm not very good at it at the time being, but I'm working on it. For those interested, here's the Shakuhachi in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LE-Qq35_8H0

I love the Native American flute! It's such a beautiful instrument and unique tone with so much spirit and emotion! One of my favorite times during a pow-wow is the drum break when the flutists play. It's so peaceful and carries nicely on the wind.

oooo, i love it too! i own a cheap-ish version of the native american flute, and i sounds horrible! i can't tell whether it's my playing, or the quality of the flute...oh well. i could just sit all day and listen to one. although between the flute and drums, i prefer drums. afterall, they're the heartbeat of the people. the flutes are peaceful and haunting, but the drums are full of energy and excitement. i like that.

Sound like a bass version of an Irish whistle
They even modify the notes the same way. It would be interesting to hear them playing together with a Bodhran.

Hadn't thought about that much, but I don't doubt any of it -off to hear some Irish whistle.
Any suggestions for good whistlers? No need to bother, I see the comparisons, love it all.

I am one-half Navajo, so I do love Native American music. I love all sorts. I particularly like R. Carlos Nakai.
