Go ahead and mock me, I'm hooked on Gilmore Girls

no I'm not thirteen, and the last time I actually enjoyed watching a 'coming of age' show it was in black and white with Fred MacMurray....but hey I totally love watching the Gilmore Girls.

Everyone who knows me very well thinks I have lost my mind, the WB or TV in general is not usually my thing. I am more into subtle cinema, indie films, and stuff with 'depth' whatever that means. As for humor, my idea of hilarious would be Best in Show, Office Space, or The Full Monty.

But I was bored one day and came across an older rerun, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It's like a combination of those old 1940's fast talking banter movies and some really hip and intelligent dialogue and situations. There are some great character actors on as regulars, and a few dippy annoying characters that I could do without, but oh well. Nothing's perfect. The daughter-single mom duo are the snappy patter experts and some of the obscure pop culture references are brilliant enough to make you stop and rewind.

I got hooked enough to renew my lapsed Netflix and start watching it from the first season (I think it's currently going on season 6). I'm about halfway through the second season now.

Anyway. Go ahead and mock me, I'm hooked on the Gilmore Girls.

my husband started watching it too but don't tell anybody. I'm sure he quickly switches to NASCAR if somebody comes to the door...

I love Gilmore Girls, and I frequently tune into the WB, or 'The New CW,' as it's now called, for similar programming. I gave up being ashamed of my interests long ago--it's too much work.

I caught glimpses of the show on my way to Spongebob, it is smartly written, I love the way they deliver their lines (almost like Dragnet) and it has a strong cast. I have been promising myself that I should get more involved with this show that I would probably like it but I do not think they would be for the right reasons.

This would be the only way that I would pursue it. I would want to view it from the beginning at my leisure not just jump into series and have to watch it everyday at a certain time.

meh, don't you hate the commercials too! won't watch anything that isn't TiVo'd anymore, we just fast forward thru...

That's a good point but I would wish for the other bonuses like commentaries and special features (outtakes, deleted scenes, behind the scenes).

Gilmore Girls is cool! I haven't gotten to watch it in a long while, because after all is said and done, it's still a soap opera.
