hehe, i find myself having to support them to some extent, because after all, they are the new *up-and-coming* subculture in UK at the moment. my subculture was the Goth scene, still is though sadly many will see the bikers, the punks, the goths, and the emos as the same - so we tend to find ourselves in the same joints and hang-out places.

What is this "emo" thing going on. I find it referenced more often on the forums and for the life of me have no idea what it is other than another bad trend in hairstyles.

I like the definition David Draiman (Disturbed's frontman) gave during Ozzfest '06, when he blamed emo for the thought that "rock is dead." He stated "thier a bunch of [guys] that wear thier daddy's suit and thier mommys makeup."

I tend to agree with this, as I grew up around the pre-Manson goth crowd (you know, the ones who liked Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, etc. BEFORE goth became a Hot Topic/hardcore/trashy thing) These goths were fun, if not ridiculous "I'm SO depressed" and "Mmm...blood" or "Hey! A razor blade!"

Actually, emo seems like what you get when you mix goth with hipster fashion and throw in a lot more whining. I think "Hope" in the videos sums up the attitude pretty well. They attach SO much meaning to the stupidest things. And then we end up with "musicians" like Panic! At The Disco.



Joke: How many emo kids does it take to change a light bulb? None. They just sit in the dark and cry.
