Default Orthodox bible translations

Hello friends, I have been challenged in another thread to learn a little more about Orthodoxy. One question I have, and cannot find a reasonable answer is; What translation of the bible do Orthodox Christians rely? I have read that the Old Testament was translated to the Greek, but no translation to english at this point. Is that true, if so which english translation do you rely? Thanks

The same one you usually rely on, but with the Deuterocanonicals. The NAS is a pretty good one. I tend to use the KJV in a lot of places. To date, we just make use of the Bibles that are in place with only a few exceptions. I do not like the NIV translating sarx as "sinful nature" for theological reasons. The NRSV is too inclusive.

If you want to learn about Orthodoxy, you can ask us questions about it. God to an Orthodox website like this one, or best, go to a service or watch a recording. The Bible alone is not sufficient to discover it (that is a problem in Protestantism; everyone interprets it for themselves, and thus continue to divide).

Yes, I found one in my area and look forward to attending on Sunday this week. I look forward to this experience. Regarding the Bible, I was more curious than anything, frankly I am not much of a Bible reader, unless I am researching something to do with a thread or post on a newsgroup, good or bad thats the truth. Thanks for the info, I am sure I will have plenty of questions to come.
