Default Generosity for the Vashon Monks

I first found out about this a while back, but a group of monks at the All-Merciful Saviour Orthodox Monastery were robbed by some fake contractors of roughly $55,000. That happened some time ago, and it had largely slipped into the background for me, to my shame. However, I have discovered that God and the community there have aided their recovery .

The people in the community around them on the island rallied to their aid, and helped them replace the lost money. Orthodox, Non-Orthodox, everyone came together to help undo the damage .

The story is at:

It is a great thing for all of us to see and experience,
they (the monks on Vashon) are good neighbors and have been there many years sharing the Gospel with thousands.

If any of you can ever make it there, you will enjoy it a lot.

And have a cup of their good coffee while you are at it...

Hmm, I hope they serve tea if I can ever visit. I've not yet addicted myself to coffee .

Yes, they are very hospitable.

I mentioned coffee because that is their income

In that case, I might have to try some if I ever visit there in spite of my tendency to avoid it .

Default Generosity for the Vashon Monks

I once went to a retreat run by Buddhist Nuns, here in the UK (when I was working for a charity; a week-end teach-in). I was amazed at their hospitability as well, and their lack of enforcing their own views on others; they even had a Bar in one of the rooms with all the alcoholic drinks their visitors might want. Now that is truly 'accepting' in my mind. Those ladies were so calm, patient, it really hit a spot somewhere around the heart!
