The visit was the most interesting event this country have ever seen, it was supported by all the other Christian denomination, they provided the pilgrims with accommodation and hospitality, the pope had meeting with the leaders of other religion, the protester were so stupid, I saw a lesbian offering condoms to a 12 year old girl. If Muslims can organised an event that brings more than half a million pilgrims, they would be afforded the same support, we are a civilised nation, that supports religious freedom, our government do not forbids the preaching of Islam. Quote:
No you don’t, they were allowed to protest, it was like a circus, the pope is the leader of 1.2 billion souls, he apologised to victims of abuse, it was so good to see our youth showing such spirituality, a good hope inspiring event. Quote:
Is Norway an anarchy? Do all people do as they please? Quote:

In Norway i'd like to see new laws for world youth day. Also don't tell me i don't know whats going on, i get 7 and 9 news. Their coverage was rediculous, the first time i didn't miss home, about 2/3 of the news was about WYD, which 73.18% of the population did not attend according to your figures. I think it was good for our economy, thats all. Other than that all it did was clog the news channels, roads and all other media for 5 days. Oh and 73.18% of the population got to listen to talk of the pope, yay The olympics were a bigger and more important event ![]() |

Yes they did, as I told you this is a civilised country, the decision counted with the support of the organiser. It showed us the maturity of our young people, the stupid protest did not disturbed them at all. Quote:

Then you know that it was never the case of “any protests = arrests regardless of their nature” that you published a lie. I am sure that Norway will take the measures that they deem necessary to guarantee the safety of such an important dignitary, the spiritual leader of 1.2 million souls. Quote:
You are not making sense, did you expected the whole population to be there? As I told you 26.82% Australian are Catholic, but all the Christian denominations pitch in to help, and with such a good media coverage many decided to watch in on the tele. ![]() Quote:

And 100% of the population watched the Olympic 2000? |

Before WYD started, i remember watching nine news and it stated clearly that any attempts to ''ánnoy' pilgrims would result in arrest/fines. From that i took that anything that protests, handing out condoms, impersonating nuns and promoting homosexuality ect. would not be tolerated, hence my statements that protests would result in arrests regardless. Having seen the events unfold i realise my initial estimate was incorrect. Abstinence is something you do not generally encounter unless you're faithful. As a lifetime atheist, never have i been encouraged not to use condoms, to exercise Abstinence until i was older or any such thing. I would only agree if it were a common form of sexual health education in Australia which last time i checked it wasn't. From my experience its more "protect from the inevitable" if you get what i mean. As in why try to stop something you cant, so lets protect as best we can. I don't think giving it out to 12 year olds is a good idea, but i found it amusing how that was the only footage of condoms being handed out for 3 days worth of coverage, it was on every channel. My point was the majority of the population did not attend as wasn't at all interested, yet were bombarded in the news with the detailed events of the day. I've been informed that they had complete coverage for a few hours on SBS each day, i would have thought that would be sufficient, other than maybe a headline story in the nightly news. Evidently not though. The olympics were huge, at the time i didn't come across anyone who didn't watch it at all. Im sure not everyone did though. |
