One of the things I missed most about moving south is that while I lived in Michigan I could watch Canadian news. That's where I usually found out what was really going on here in the U.S. You know, insignificant stuff like the fact that we were providing the phosphorus bombs that were dropped on civilians in Lebanon in the 80s.

Naturally, not a peep in *our* media.

There is a fair Gap In what we know about John Howard and Australian politics in general.
It seem like there is seldom much newsworthy stuff published over here about Australia.
Sport yes especially Rugby and Cricket and to a lesser extent Australian rules, and football.
Australian Soaps are very popular... but that is about it.
Even the Serious Daily papers give very little coverage.
Though I expect the same is true about British news getting to Australia.

What Australian soaps do you watch over there?

Don't like him, never have liked him, don't understand how Australians could elect him. Not that he's anywhere near as bad as Bush. We've really raised the bar for national insanity and executive incompetence.

Any chance Helen Clark could take over for both of them?

As a Canadian, and not a follower of politics or news, I can only say that the only thing I know about him is that he's a Muppet.

I also am skeptical that George Bush thinks they have any relationship.

Howard is a strange little fellow, but I have to admit that he has done a pretty decent job with the ecomony over the years.

I agree on both points. Their relationship reminds me of the bulldog and the little yapper in those old Warner Bros. cartoons.

I haven't heard a lot about him, but everything I have liked what I've heard. My dad lived in Australia for a few months this year and fell in love with the country. Sometimes I wish that I lived there instead of here. I love America, but I'm starting to hate Americans.
