I just finished reading the Bhagavad-gita recently and had an important question about it. In this text Krishna, who is the human form of Vishnu, claims that he basically everything in the universe. In fact, that he is the universe. Many passages give many examples of what he is. Is this to be believed by only followers of Vishnu, or what does it mean. Sorry if this is a basic question, I was just confused about it.

It is mostly believed in by Iskon believers, who believe exclusively in the teaching of Krishna Bhagwan (bhagwans means god BTW) I seem to think they are going to break away from Hinduism one day, because they believe everyone else is wrong and they are right.
Dont be sorry either, its always good to ask if you are unsure.

'God' is everything - and all the space in between everything. Also sometimes called the Supreme Consciousness, Ultimate Truth, etc etc. 'God' is beyond human comprehension. To help us comprehend we limit God to a form, usually a human form just so we can contemplate and worship God. that is fine as long as we dont forget that God is not only Krishna, or Brahma or Shiva or all the others, they are just a way of representing, otherwise you limit the infinite.

To me, all the Deities are aspects of God. I agree with this verse from the Vedas: OM POORNAMADAH POORNAMIDAM POORNAAT POORNAMUDACHYATE POORNASYA POORNAMAADAAYA POORNAMEVAAVASHISHYATE OM SHANTI SHANTI SHANTIH THAT (BRAHMAN) IS WHOLE THIS (CREATION) IS ALSO WHOLE FROM THAT WHOLE (I.E. BRAHMAN ONLY) THIS WHOLE HAS COME OUT (CREATION) BUT EVEN THOUGH THIS WHOLE HAS COME OUT OF THAT WHOLE YET THAT WHOLE REMAINS WHOLE ONLY

I love Vishnu, helped him out at the Temple of Shekinah,at the request of the Shekinah,as he had caused a rift with the earth mother who was also at the temple in the form of a Hittite Godess called Kybele.
Vishnu was showing signs of stress in among the courtesans of the temple, the welcoming comittee of maidens.Kybele was also satisfying maidens, she wanted to castrate me & was generally really rough with me,until I managed to spark her Kundalini,by running quantum energy through her to light the heart chakra & beyond up to her crown chakra.I did this by running the energy through my hands although it can be chanelled by other extremities, such is the healing of seperation from heart. I view all deity as simply egregore, old light or knowledge,or human representation of divine power or force, beings of greater duration than*us*,unless we realise our full potential. Worship nothing but self in order to realise your potential as Godseed, borne of the stars. After listening to the Bhagavad-gita my oversoul or greater self did sit still within the temple of the Trayastan, which gained me an audience with Ma Durga(glorious Ma) who sent me into the Inky Black realms of Mara for a series of Bloodless victories chanting Kali!Kali!Kali! While out there I did gain insight into Apex Predator Karma & used this to some effect.Upon return my oversoul expanded from over 800(Nordic Pantheon) too many millions,ALL LIFE. I love all Hindu, especially Mata Kali the great healer destroyer.... Anyway, When my universal wheel was alligned with the universe today & did *become* as one,it maybe even created a new one? Some sort of Quantum collapse was reversed anyway, all is in love.I really don't know what it is about until I pass through it.It maybe nothing, maybe everything, maybe all things inbetween.... Parvati is a good mother, wee Ganesh being proof of this I love him too.Just that Vishnu needed something more. Vishnu is a very close relative to Anubis from the Egyptian Pantheon, all guys together. Ha, ha, Andy. We cannot expect the whole world to understand hinduism the way we do. Leave Andy to his hinduism, Don.

Hi guys,
I love all pantheon, the hindu is one of the best preserved & in its most natural state. I maybe shouldn't come out with such statements on a strictly Hindu site,Hindu is a great & ancient path,I could understand why people get annoyed at my mix and matching. Maybe do a seperate thread to explore similarities in the Pantheon by comparison,or radical differences for that matter, see the strengths & weaknesses in all. I would love that actually. Would you like your glass of milk to contain 50% water? As for the second para in the quote, why not, you are welcome. See the new thread, 'Hindus and Pagans'.
