I just heard about this. RIP.
I think he was put in a lose-lose situation, and while I don't agree with why he pardoned Nixon, I understand where he came from.

I thought he was a good and decent man who did the right thing. There are some things that I disagreed with him on, but for th most part I thought he handled himself well. He was certainly much better that Carter. I think that pardoning Nixon was the right thing to do considering that it would have been very hard to prove that he broke the law and the nation needed to move on even though everyone in the media at the time was screaming for Nixons head. It was the right thing to do and he was a good man for doing it.
